There were reports about illness of Asmara Afridi, Shahid Afridi’s youngest daughter, but today the news about her alleged death has caused distress among fans and of course the star cricketer and his family members.

The social media, which has found a solid foothold in Pakistan and has now started to compete the electronic media of the country, has become unrestrained in the sense that there is no check and balance on the authenticity and quality of news.

Pakistan again face a shameful exit from the T20 cricket World Cup as the result of rift among the team mates. We did not play as one unit and the shameful result was not a surprise. Whenever, our team lose, the pressure mounts on the captain in charge. The similar thing happened to previous captains including Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Inzamam-ul-Haq in 2007. Though we won the 2009 edition of T20 world cup under the captaincy of Younis Khan but this time it is Shahid Afridi who is attracting the negative spotlight--something he doesnt like. While he landaded at Dubai airport, there was only one person who received him. 

The journo present on the airport asked Shahid Afridi if he was upset with performance of the team. He replied surprisingly saying it was not the first time we lost the major tournament and there was nothing for to worry about. Sources say, Afridi has delayed his arrival back to  Pakistan supposedly due to media pressure that he has always failed to face confidently in times of crisis and defeat. 

Shahid Afridi was also surprised to see the report on the airport and inquired how he came to know about his arrival in Duabi. Disinterested in giving any interview, LAL drove off in a very luxurious car.

The bookie reveals that Umar Akmal has been involved in match-fixing as he gave away a lot of matches on the tips of some "outside" money makers that have their money on the line. Personally, I also feel that this bookie may not be far from truth. Sharjeel was a flop in Asia cup but he proved his talent today. Of course, the green wickets will always expose his technical issues with batting but on a batting track, he can be as dangerous as Sanath Jaysuria.



At the moment, the chances of Pakistan reaching the next knockout stage are extremely slim. Pakistan will have to beat Australia by a heavy margin and India will have to lose next two games against Bangladesh and Australia which is unlikely as well.

It was yet another dooms day for Pakistan cricket as we fell in defeat to New Zealand in a match that could have been easily won. Pakistan bowled relatively well and did not allow Kiwis to score past 200. Surprisingly, the batting line-up started off pretty well. Sharjeel Khan played a massive knock and scored 47 off just 26 balls and it seemed like Pakistan would somehow win the match but it seemed Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik intentionally slowed the pace of runs that Sharjeel Khan had developed. Sources close to Afridi say that the skipper was not at all happy and said Pakistan did not deserve to reach the semfinals of the World Cup T20 considering the poor batting performance in the consecutive matches. Sadly, the efforts of Sharjeel Khan went in vain.

In the post-match interview, Shahid Khan Afridi clearly hinted at his retirement from International cricket after the one final game against Australia. The chances of Pakistan reaching the semifinals are very slim unless some miracle happens. Head coach Waqar Younis also blasted the batsmen and said we could have chased the target if we kept up the rhythm set by Sharjeel Khan.

It could have been the victory for Pakistan that would easily set up semifinal berth for the team but Umar Akmal and Malik seemed to have a different agenda altogether. Afridi was rightly and clearly upset with the dismal batting show by the duo and it somehow reflects the inner rift among the team mates.

Imran Khan Bash Cricket Team For Defeat Against India T20 World Cup 2016--Lagta Hai Mujhy Khud Khelna Parega

It was yet another defeat against India in the World Cups for Pakistan as the previous tally was not enough. India crusied to rather comfortable 6-wicket win despite some initial heroics from Mohammad Sami who bowled out two key batsmen in consecutive deliveries. In my opinion, it was a much better from Pakistan side compared to the poor performance they showed in Asia cup defeat earlier this month.

The performance of Virat Kolhi was the stand-out moment of the match who batted to take India to their first victory in the tournament. India had entered the tournament with defeat against New Zealand but they have kept up the tradition of beating Pakistan team in the mega events. Though Pakistan still has chances of reaching the next as they entered the tournament with a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh.


Imran Khan, the cricket legend, was too disappointed with the performance of the team and even said "mujhay khud khelna pare" He is probably hinting at the poor captaincy of Shahid Afridi. There is a lot of chatter about how Brian Lara shut some Pakistani cricketers up by not accepting Islam and asking a counter question. And guess what? the sensationalist social media of Pakistan is making it look like "Brian Lara rejected Islam." This is insane and irresponsible. By labelling the whole thing "Brian Lara rejects Islam" we are actually sparking Muslim sentiments against the former West Indian batsman.

I am disgusted at the way we have been spreading this information. Lara simply asked what he had in his mind and we should behave like humans and true Muslims if we want to project Islam in its purest form. Pulling people's head off and taking our insecurities out on non-Muslims like this won't serve Islam's purpose.

Former Pakistani captain and star batsman Inzamam ul Haq has said he preached Brian Lara about Islam a couple of weeks ago during a gathering at Lahore and there was something about it he still can't forget.

So far, the wicket has been supporting to the bowlers as we did not see the big scores being posted on the board. I feel Quetta Gladiators has a great chance of maintaining their winning streak and won the tournament. Though, it would be quite premature to predict the winner of the tournament but Quetta and Peshawar have their chances. Whoever wins, it will be the victory of Pakistani cricket anyway.



The pitch has not been good for fast bowlers except Muhammar Amir who completed the first-hatrick of the tournament. It seems the tournament will have the spinners rule. This was the second lucky winner of the prize.

What the hell ! I have never seen Saeed Anwar in such an aggressive mode. What has gone wrong? The video tells the whole story. Former Pakistani star batsman Saeed Anwar has lashed out at PTI chairman Imran Khan, saying the cricketer-turned-politician's claims to rebuild Pakistan are bogus because he was not even able to save his marriage. It is not known whether Saeed Anwar, who is now a Tablighi jamat activist, referred to his second marriage that saw him divorce Reham Khan. Imran Khan's first marriage to Jamaima Khan ended right after he started his political career.
Saeed Anwar and Imran Khan have spent time together as team mates in early 1990's, but why Anwar decided to slam Imran is unknown. We don't even know what made the former righthanded batsman angry with the PTI chairman as he is known to have stayed away from mainstream media and political comments. We hope that Imran Khan won't mind his once-close-friend lashing out at him as his political activism keeps him busy in far more important issues.

Fast Bowling Talent: Is He Better Than Muhammad Amir?

Pakistan is a heaven for fast bowling talent without any shred of doubt. From Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis to the likes of Shoaib Akhtar and Muhammad Amir, the country has never been short of fast bowling prodigies. All the above mentioned fast bowlers went on to carving their names in the record books while there are many raw fast bowling talents who lurk in the dark. Granted, PCB does host yearly talent hunt programs to discover the new fasting bowling blood, there are many young and naturally talented fast bowlers in the streets who never make it to the stage where they could catch public attention. One such fast bowling is this Karachi-based guy who maintains a pretty good line and length.

While some might argue he is just an average guy out there but while browsing fast bowling talents on the web, it caught my eye. If properly trained, he can be the next Muhammad Amir or maybe better than him, who knows? I have noticed over the years that there are many tape-ball cricket talents both batsmen and bowling who never make it to the big stage either due to their own choices or no PCB's program to pick and choose the best batsmen and bowler playing cricket on street level cricket. To substantiate this, I bring Asad Shafiq as a case in point. The prolific and most compact Pakistani Test batsman made his way up from his tape-ball cricket circuit. He is a great example of tape-ball cricket talent in the country that largely remains neglected. It would be a wise thing for PCB to street hunting tape-ball talent as well.
