Law of Attraction and Islam

Don't be surprised when I say the Law of Attraction is Allah's Sunnah. The Law of Attraction is a divine law (a law governed by Allah/God, the creator of the universe and everything). Even if you call it a Universal Law, being a Muslim/Christian or a religious person you must believe that all the Universal Laws (physical or metaphysical ones) are governed by Allah/God (the creator of the universe). It should not surprise you that Islam talks about the Law of Attraction from a much broader perspective than most of the self-improvement gurus tell us today.

Law of Attraction summed up by Quran in very powerful and precise words:

"Verily, never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves," (Surah Ar-Ra'd)

"And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allāh, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allāh will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allāh has set a measure for all things. (At-Talaq 65:3)

Pay attention to the verse at the end: "Allah has set a measure for all things"

How's the Law of Attraction a Divine Law (Allah's Sunnah)?

Allah has set a measure for everything, from physical laws like gravitational force of the Earth to your beliefs (the Law of Attraction).

Physical Law (Allah's Sunnah): Simply put, if you hold a glass of water in your hands and let it drop, it will do down. It will not go up. This is Allah's Sunnah. There is a whole process that how

Law of Attraction/Belief (Allah's Sunnah): Similarly, if you fill your mind with a desire of money and start believing strongly that you have become a rich person, money will find its way to you. This is Allah's Sunnah. (For this to happen, there are certain rules set by Allah. We will discuss this later how to use the Law of Attraction in your favour).

There is a good reason for Allah to fulfill your wants and desires according to you belief held in your subconscious mind. I will clear this up with simple examples.

These two verses summarise what the Law of Attraction theory says:

"And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am very near; I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he calls on Me, so they should answer My call and believe in Me that they may walk in the right way." [Surah Baqarah (2:186)

You attract evil when evil or negative thoughts hijack your mind. This is why Allah wants us to keep a close eye on our thoughts (Tazkiyaa e Nafs). You attract good in your life when you let positivity rule your mind. This is not just limited to spiritual needs, the law of belief (or the law of attraction) works on a physical realm too as your wealth, prosperity, happiness, and relations are all shaped by your thinking habits.

“Man prays for evil just as he prays for good; and Man is ever hasty.” (Surah Al-Israa

Islam wants us to constantly monitor our thoughts and always be optimistic about the needs (shelter/home, food/rizq) because Allah will always be there to fullfil your wishes if we believe he listens. If you have ever practised the law of attraction, you must have noticed that the whole practice typically involves forming a picture of your desire in your mind and assuming that you have got what you want. You do affirmations with a positive mind, thinking you have already got what you desire.

According to these two verses mentioned above, Allah actually wants you to believe that He will never disappoint you if you set your heart on your wish and pray with a strong faith, believing you desire has already been fulfilled by Allah. This is very powerful and it works when you pray with focus and attention.

Allah wants you to believe that He answers your prayers. Saying prayer and believing it has been answered by Allah is something most of the people don't understand because of "limiting beliefs". Allah doesn't want you to say prayer and expect Him not to listen to your desire as it will be against what Quran says "I answer the prayer of the suppliant" (2:186). Having a strong faith means that you have already visualized that prayer has been answered.

“Oh Sons, go and enquire about Joseph and his brother, and never give up hope in Allah’s mercy, truly none despairs of Allah’s spirit except those who have no faith.” Quran 12:87

The fancy term Law of Attraction gained popularity after "The Secret" (movie) and people have been trying to make the most of this amazing universal law (governed by Allah) to change their lives.

Let's recall, the Law of Attraction works all the time. It works all the time for every person -- and it doesn't matter if they are aware of it working or not, it works "for" or "against" you. It is also true that just like any other physical law, the law of attraction works with a mathematical certainty. I will prove that in my next post.

"Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." (Surah Al Baqra, 2:268)
