It was yet another defeat against India in the World Cups for Pakistan as the previous tally was not enough. India crusied to rather comfortable 6-wicket win despite some initial heroics from Mohammad Sami who bowled out two key batsmen in consecutive deliveries. In my opinion, it was a much better from Pakistan side compared to the poor performance they showed in Asia cup defeat earlier this month.
The performance of Virat Kolhi was the stand-out moment of the match who batted to take India to their first victory in the tournament. India had entered the tournament with defeat against New Zealand but they have kept up the tradition of beating Pakistan team in the mega events. Though Pakistan still has chances of reaching the next as they entered the tournament with a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh.
Imran Khan, the cricket legend, was too disappointed with the performance of the team and even said "mujhay khud khelna pare" He is probably hinting at the poor captaincy of Shahid Afridi. The first mistake our team made was their inability to read the pitch. It was the spinning track and Indian captain Dhoni utilized his spinners against Pakistan batsmen. Rightly says, the game of cricket largely depends on the decision making of the captain leading the side in the ground. However, Pakistan does not seem to have broken the hoodoo of defeats against India in the World Cups. We still stand the chance of winning the World Cup if the players perform well in the next game against New Zealand--who already beat India in the first match.
