PIA plane hijacking case: Pak army and police smartly overpowered terrorists

A 1998 hijacking case has now come to an end, with the perpetrators having been hanged for their crime that aimed to take a Karachi-bound PIA Fokker plane to neighbouring India. The plane had take a flight from Turbat, Gawadar, but soon it was hijacked after three men on board announced to take over controls.

The whole plan of the terrorists, who were later identified as Shahsawar Baloch, Shabbir Rind and Sabir Rind, was foiled by the present-minded pilot who smartly fooled the hijackers into thinking that the plane had landed in India, even though he touched down on Hyderabad airport, Pakistan, something that helped local police and Pakistan Army commandos take a swift action and capture the three terrorists before they could make any move.

The report on the case that emerged this week highlighted something that should be shared with the public. The local police officer who was called by the pilot to assist used an Indian accent, duping the hijackers into believing that they had reached India.
