Maryam Nawaz is happy with government crackdown

Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has tweeted that she is happy how the government dealt with wrongdoers outside the Parliament House Saturday night, and PTI (Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf) and PAT (Pakistan Awami Tehreek) workers were "handled well" by the police.

Maryam Nawaz has been actively sharing her statements and messages through social media since the start of Azadi March by PTI and Inqalab March by Tahir ul Qadri.

Maryam Nawaz shared her message through Twitter, saying the protesters were trying to enter the Parliament and the security forces did the right thing by dispersing an anti-government crowd.

It is shameful how Pakistani media is painting a picture of someone's private life. A video that briefly mentions Maryam Nawaz's husband Captain Safdar has gone viral and people are sharing it on social media like it is the most sensational revelation to date.

The video clip was taken from an ARY News program aired a couple of days ago and a live caller from Saudia Arabia spoke his mind about Nawaz Sharif and Captain Safdar. Quite expectedly, a sensationalist media sniffed out what usually attracts the Pakistani audience: Maryam Nawaz. Surprised? Google up Maryam Nawaz and the search queries you get range from hottness to scandals and from marriage to kisses. Sounds disgusting.

PTI girls overshadow Imran Khan's speeches

PTI (Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf) girls and their attention-grabbing dance moves are in the news. They are on the electronic media, in the papers and in social media posts. 

There were many attendees (mainly Islamabad residents) who I guess had especially come to have fun and a night out.

Imran Khan speeches might not have made the desired impression on his political rivals and Nawaz Sharif, but his crowd definitely gave the media enough material to write about. The anti-government sit-in that is being staged to remove Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif looked more like a concert than a serious protest.

They even danced to Atta ullah Esa Khelvi songs that are most of the times cripplingly boring. The Azadi March has stretched into its sixth day and there seems no hope that Nawaz Sharif will go home. However, we had an opportunity to listen to some of the great singers of the country. Abrar ul Haq stole the show when he sang a song standing on a Pakistani Flag.

According to reports, there was an incident of sexual harassment at PTI Azadi March as some girls complained about being molested during their dance. Confirming these reports, Imran Khan also gave a hint that some PTI workers were involved in sexual harassment and teasing girls during the March as he told members to respect women during one of his live speeches.

Pakistan crisis: Nawaz Sharif sneaks out from President House Gate

Nawaz Sharif and the entire Parliament was stunned to see a large crowd surrounding the Parliament House on Thursday morning as Tahir ul Qadri supporters closed in on a heavily-guarded government compound in an apparent attempt to besiege members of the National Assembly.
We saw Qadri start marching towards the Parliament House promising to cripple the Assembly session. However, something funny happened along the way and Tahir ul Qadri was left scratching his head: Nawaz Sharif and National Assembly members sneaked out from the President House gate, leaving Qadri followers fuming and expressing frustration.

Tahir al Qadri has been issuing fiery statements since the start of his "Inqalab March" vowing to stop the parliament house from working, but a swift response from the PML N government made it impossible for Qadri followers to hamper the National Assembly session.

The Army was called in to rescue the besieged members and were escorted to safer locations before the furious mob could get closer to the Parliament building.

Not Another WAAR Review

Since the release of the much-anticipated Pakistani movie, much has been written in the form of news, reviews and critiques about the film, and from all those, here are a few deductions that even someone who has been lazy enough to visit the cinema can make:

• Par excellence cinematography (hats off to Bilal Lashari for the commendable work)
• The shallow nature of the script, or as many said the biased nature of the story for blaming India of everything wrong going in Pakistan (for all such Aman ki Asha lovers, kindly watch D-day and Qayamat)
• Meesha Shafi and Ali Azmat being supremely disappointing in their roles

But, with all that said and done, there are some off the beat aspects and moments that must be mentioned about the film. Some of them even though presented in a serious situation could not stop people from laughing, or leaving a big question mark in their mind in the form of WHY???? Here are a few of them.

• Lashari’s Self-Promotion: Is it just me or did someone else also realized the number of scenes played by the young director himself, apart from the presence of this father, Kamran Lashari. The highly dexterous sniper of the security force and the only anti-Taliban soldier other than Hamza Abbasi (obviously, the rest in the battalion were all PTI supporters)
•  Shamoon’s Dialouge Lapse: Remember Rehman Malik and his famous phrase of ‘blast took place because of security lapse’? Shamoon faced a similar situation in Waar. Difference being it can be termed as dialogue lapse. The Joker-Bane combo callous super-villain only had a handful of lines to deliver and that also in English which was strange keeping in mind that he was from RAW and not CIA. My friend after watching him abuse in English said ‘gali do to apni zaban mai, warna mat do’
•  Police Academy Attack: Without any doubt the scene was awesome. It had everything in it. Emotion, brutality, atrocity, hilarity (when suicide jackets were being presented to female bombers) and yes stupidity by disrupting the scene with a dance sequence that was completely unnecessary. I mean, why on earth someone would ruin the most vital scene of the film by showing dance clips that cannot even serve as good foreplay.
•  Bomb Detonation Final Scene: As if everyone had a train to catch or washroom to visit. The shifting of scenes was so instantaneous. For a second I couldn’t figure out who was faster. Shaan in his frequency of punches or Ayesha Khan in cutting the right wire. She can definitely star in Hurt Locker’s sequel. Jeremy Renner would have tough time.
• Best Dialogue: I just cannot resist adding this one and I know many won’t agree with me on this, but the best one was when a Pakistani traitor tells Taliban commander ‘Apke walid ki maut ka sunke bara afsoos hua’ and both of them burst into laughter.

Final Word:

The movie is a must watch. And for all those who are dubbing it as ‘overrated’ they better have a look at Ram Gopal Varma’s Twitter timeline.

Maryam Nawaz's daughter has been engaged in a simple, yet powerful ceremony attended by government officials and key businessmen of Pakistan. 

The engagement ceremony was held in Raiwind, Lahore and attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and other close family members from both sides.

According to the news shared by journalists, daughter of Maryam Nawaz, whose name was not revealed, was engaged to son of a well-known industrialist Chauhdhry Munir.

BOL TV mounts pressure on GEO NEWS

How did Bol TV Network, a fledgling news channel and media house who is accused of leaning overtly to country's military, become the biggest threat to Jang Group in general and GEO News in particular? 

GEO News is clearly under pressure as BOL Network has started attracting anchor persons, news reporters and other technical experts like a rash and it appears that by the time the new channel gets on air in October, much will have changed in the electronic media industry of Pakistan.

BOL Network CEO, Shoaib Shaikh is a charismatic person and he has been vowing to shake up the entire news media with his corporate-style tactics that promise big benefits for employees. 

With most of the news channels having failed to satisfy their employees in terms of timely pay, and other monetary benefits, BOL TV is capitalizing on these grievances, and it is working well.

During his company’s annual gathering held at PAF Base, Karachi in April, Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh shook up the electronic, print and radio establishment when he openly challenged rival news channels and media outlets, advising them to pay three times as much to their employees if they wanted to beat BOL TV.

A mouth-watering salary is one of the biggest features BOL TV boasts about as reporters, anchorpersons tend to switch to organizations that pay them sufficiently enough to lead a comfortable life.

Shoaib Shaikh is smart and he has the real knack for luring employees. His years of experience in IT industry has honed his skills of keeping employees happy—something we are observing in the case of BOL TV.

“Kamran Khan doesn’t make a move that is not calculated,” a Karachi-based journalist confided in us during an online correspondence with Green Flag News.

“Kamran Khan will definitely make others want to move to BOL and his departure from GEO News has put a nasty dent in Jang group’s credibility as the most powerful news channel in Pakistan.”

The journalist said “big money” definitely makes a difference and most of the reporters, camera crew, editorial members and other staff working in different news channels complain about being poorly paid, which is enough to make them want to move to better opportunities they find in the market.

“Tough economy is choking everyone, and if BOL promises a happy future, why wouldn't you consider quitting your present job?” he asked.

It remains to be seen how many of big names in the news media will join BOL, but one thing is for certain: BOL has sent shock waves through the entire news media of Pakistan.

Is Bol TV owned by Malik Riaz?

There has been a lot of talk about Malik Riaz being behind the creation of Bol TV Network. It is not just Malik Riaz, who is considered one of influential kingmakers in Pakistani politics, Aqil Karim Dhedi is also thought to be behind Bol TV. Is that true?

GFN: Officially, BOl TV Network is run, owned and overseen by Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh, the CEO and President of Axact. And that is the safest thing to say, until there is no official statement from Malik Riaz himself. We cannot confirm whether Malik Riaz is behind BOL TV as he has not indicated or given a hint that he is the one calling the shots and running things at BOL TV Network. 

However, assuming he could be funding BOL Network makes sense to most of the journalists. And that doesn't make him a criminal, does it? As for Aqil Karim Dhedi, he might be supporting BOL TV Network as he has good ties to Axact boss Shoib Shaikh and was recently seen visiting Axact office situated at Defence, Karachi.

Date of Bol TV launch changed

Launch of a keenly-awaited Bol TV has been postponed and now the upcoming channel will be aired in October 2014.

The launch of Bol TV Network was initially planned for 14th August, but according to journalists close to Bol Network, the launch has been delayed and it is said the TV will now be aired in October.

Though it is still not officially confirmed by the Bol Network whether October is the launching month, sources said the company decided to change the launching date due to operational and administrative issues. 

Who is behind Bol TV Network?

The upcoming Bol TV is the brainchild of Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh, the owner of a leading IT company Axact. Many Pakistanis who have heard of Bol TV, which is going to be aired in the next few months, do not know who is behind the new media house. 

Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh is a young, energetic entrepreneur who has ambitions to build Pakistan into a thriving economy. The Axact boss recently talked about his plans to launch the biggest news channel in Pakistan, claiming most of the key journalists and analysts have already been taken aboard Bol.

During the last Team Meet of Axact held at PAF Base Karachi in early April, Shoaib Shaikh enunciated his plans to take over Pakistani media industry, vowing to hire the best professionals and journalists. 

Some of the names that graced the Axact Team Meet 2014 were Nusrat Javed and Mushtaq Minhas of Aaj TV, Nadeem Malik of Aaj, Aftab Iqab who hosts "Khabarnaak" at GEO, Asma Shirazi, Sami Ibrahim and Mubashir Luqman. 

It seems Shoaib Shaikh is close to achieving what he talked about at Team Meet 2014, as some of the biggest names in electronic media have already joined Bol TV Network. Kamran Khan who rose to fame through his GEO TV program "Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Saath," has  joined Bol and will host his show titled "Bol Kamran Khan Kay Saath." 

Rival news channel GEO apparently did not like the idea of Bol TV emerging on the scene and challenging its influence it has gained over the years. GEO recently ran stories labelling Bol TV an ISI-backed media outlet with ties to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
